Cory Edwards,  CRW, CECC, CCMC, MBTI

Certified Résumé Writer (CRW), Certified Electronic Career Coach (CECC), Certified Career Management Coach (CCMC) and Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Facilitator. She has over 20 years' government experience at both the field and headquarters levels and over 10 years’ experience in private industry.

Beginning her career with the U. S. Postal Service in 1981, Cory quickly worked her way up the career ladder successfully being promoted to Employee Development Specialist at the William F. Bolger Management Academy, and then to Postal Headquarters as a Training Specialist. Surviving the Postal Reorganization in the early 90’s, but not satisfied with the reorganization of her job, Cory made plans to quit government service. While networking to make this move, she met a Training Officer with Department of Defense who was working only 22-hours a week in a 40-hour a week billet. She was quickly invited to transfer and job-share with the other Training Officer.

During her Postal career Cory has trained hundreds of Federal employees in career change, career management, effective résumé writing, interviewing skills, MBTI, team building and other professional skills. She has trained employees and supervisors in the field, at Postal Headquarters, and at the William F. Bolger Management Academy. She has been a guest and featured speaker at numerous Career Awareness Conferences and Postmaster Conventions around the country on the subject of Federal and Postal Service Careers.

Cory has also worked with Arlington County in their Welfare-to-Work program, enabling participants to identify career goals, skills and values and make an effective transition into the workforce. She has worked with clients at the Smithsonian, the Library of Congress, National Institutes of Health, and Department of Health and Human Services.

As a Certified Career Management Coach, Cory has coached numerous clients to career success. Cory is qualified to provide and interpret several career assessments and inventories. She has guided employees through career transitions and career moves that have enabled them to succeed in their goals.

In her role with DoD, she instituted several training initiatives that have directly improved the work environment, including New Employee Orientations, Mentoring Programs, and a Toastmasters Club. She has worked one-on-one and in group sessions with employees to craft their Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and career action plans. She continues to provide numerous skills development workshops, including résumé writing and interviewing skills to her audiences.

Recently, Cory has left government full-time to continue in the career development arena helping people identify their career related values, skills, styles, and professional identity in order to better understand and craft a perfect career “fit” and then conduct effective job search strategies.

She stays current in the world of work through numerous active association memberships, including National Career Development Association, American Society for Training & Development, International Association for Career Management Professionals, National Résumé Writers’ Association, Professional Résumé Writing and Research Association and local Chambers of Commerce.
